Econyl

Econyl

ECONYL® is a brand name for a regenerated nylon fiber made from nylon waste like old carpets and fishing nets, which is then used to create new products. Developed by the company Aquafil, it is a sustainable alternative to virgin nylon that has the same performance but with a significantly lower environmental impact. This material is used to make Jaar bags, the zips and webbing are made from this.

What it is

A regenerated nylon: ECONYL® is a 100% recycled nylon yarn that is chemically identical to virgin nylon, meaning it is just as durable and high-performing.

Made from waste: It is created from waste that would otherwise pollute the environment, such as discarded fishing nets, fabric scraps from mills, and old carpets.

Infinitely recyclable: The yarn can be recycled repeatedly without losing its quality, making it a key component of a circular economy.

Environmental benefits

Reduces waste: It diverts waste from landfills and oceans, helping to tackle pollution.

Saves resources: For every 10,000 tons of ECONYL® raw material, 70,000 barrels of crude oil are saved, and \(65,100\) tonnes of CO2 equivalent emissions are avoided compared to using virgin nylon.

Lowers global warming impact: Using ECONYL® can reduce the global warming impact by up to 87% compared to virgin nylon.
